Mezzadro and Sella by A. and P.G. Castiglioni celebrate 50 years
Looking like a tractor seat and a bicycle saddle and are 50 years old….They are two pieces
designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni.Since the very first year it entered the Zanotta production (1970) Mezzadro became successful among the design loversf or its expressive strength until its promotion in museum:the
permanent collection of the NY Museum of Modern Art. In the following years it was included in
the museum's design collections in Munich, Jerusalem, Zurich and Prague.
The same as for the Sella, the seat made up of a bicycle saddle, adjustable within a steel rod
strongly fastened to a cast iron half-spherical base. Designed together with the Mezzadro, it has
been a "telephone stool" for a long time in the Castiglioni's studio in Castello square, the Sella
entered the production in 1983.
